Every now and then I come upon some situation so incredibly ridiculous and/or unbelievable that I have to write a blog about it. See A word about V-day.
One simple little pleasure that I allow myself is a monthly pedicure. Sure, I could do this at home. But for $25 it’s a relaxing experience and they do a much better job at the salon than I would do myself. Today, a good female friend and I set out to do just that.
We entered the salon behind a group of two women and three young girls. One of the women signed in for a manicure and the other for a pedicure. But they also signed in all three little girls for manicures as well.
Now let’s review:
Manicures (or pedicures) cost $25 a piece.
These girls were young. The oldest could not have possibly been more than 6 or 7 years old. The middle aged girl I would peg at 4 or 5 and the youngest was in no way older than 3 years old. In fact her “baby talk” leads me to believe she was even younger.
This was beyond annoying to have to wait in line behind three toddlers. But honestly, who does this? The answer is women with WAY too much time and money on their hands. And here’s another thing ladies; if you are treating your 3 to 6 year old daughter to manicures in a salon, I hope you are ready to treat her to expensive sports cars when she is 16. Because spoiling a small child like this is going to be a lifetime activity with expectations compounded over time. Who does this?!?!?!
So the youngest girl (maybe 3) finishes with her manicure and is seated at the nail drying table when her mother comes up to her and asks, “Are you sure you don’t want your toes done too?” WHAT?!?!??!? My friend and I just looked at each other with blank stares of disbelief. I announced, “Oh this is a blog waiting to happen.” So here ya go.
